Uncovering LA is a multi-year project focused on the development of a new interpretive pathway through Gloria Molina Grand Park. Inspired by the advocacy and visioning led by the First Peoples communities of Los Angeles whose land Gloria Molina Grand Park sits on, the pathway is a critical park amenity. Gloria Molina Grand Park will partner with communities who have historical and cultural connections to the site but whose stories are not currently visible for visitors. It will also offer a new way for parkgoers to connect with the rich and layered identities of the site’s history, built environment, flora, fauna, vistas and green spaces.
Uncovering LA aims to enhance the everyday usage of the park by visitors who journey through on foot, stroller, wheelchair and other modes. The pathway will be comprised of more than 60 physical wayfinding markers and three independent sections. The path is fully ADA-friendly. Visitors can combine the sections for a longer experience.

The interpretive pathway and outdoor gallery will serve as a space learning tool and physical expression of the stories of the Gloria Molina Grand Park site in public art, interpretive signage and other modalities told in and by the many voices that maintain a deep connection to it, rooted in their family, Tribal and community histories. These stories will be told in layers over the span of ten years, resulting in an experience that provides accurate historical context told by the stewards, caretakers and descendants of the history and future visioning of the location as well as information critical to connection with the land such as the history of original flora and fauna on the site.

The Uncovering LA pathway and community engagements will provide an opportunity to share ideas, build relationships, advance the truths of the past, and offer respect with hope towards healing to those communities who have cultural connection to the location and have been harmed by exclusions and erasures. Gloria Molina Grand Park reaffirms our commitment and responsibility in improving relationships between communities with Uncovering LA and through our partnerships, programs, and public art.
