From afrobeat and reggaeton to future bass and cumbia, nearly every music and dance genre will be brought to life on two stages at Gloria Molina Grand Park, powered by The Music Center, to bring thousands of revelers to their feet. The nearly five-hour festivity will reach a pinnacle with the park’s signature countdown-to-midnight art show projected onto L.A.’s iconic City Hall.
“Thousands of Angelenos can attest that Gloria Molina Grand Park’s NYELA is the ultimate New Year’s party and L.A.’s go-to celebrations for the entire family to welcome the new year,” said Rachel S. “Gloria Molina Grand Park’s NYELA celebration is coming back better than ever,” said Gloria Molina Grand Park Director Robert Gonzalez. “The park team has been working diligently to bring the ultimate New Year’s Eve experience that you will find only in Downtown L.A. It’s going to be another unforgettable experience—hands down! I invite all Angelenos and visitors to join us at the park for everyone for an epic celebration that will certainly be one for the books.”
With gates opening at 8:00 p.m., Gloria Molina Grand Park’s NYELA will encompass the six city blocks that comprise the park. The Countdown Stage, hosted by DJ Sizzle in the park’s Block 4 between Broadway and Spring Streets, will open with L.A.’s very own salsa funk, boogaloo and cumbia band La Verdad (with a special performance by salsa dancer Stephanie “The Princess of Salsa” Stevenson) followed by acclaimed music artist La Doña performing reggaeton fused with Latin folk, cumbia and hip-hop. The final act of the evening, L.A.-based music and dance ensemble Extra Ancestral, will command the stage and transport audiences with a dynamic performance combining afrobeat, jazz, reggaeton and African dance, only to be magnificently heightened by the park’s signature countdown-to-midnight art spectacle projected on L.A.’s City Hall.
The Get Down Stage, located in the park’s Block 2 between Grand Avenue and Hill Street, will be hosted by CALI 93.9’s Caro Marquez. Latin Vinyl DJ Linda Nuves kicks off the grooves, followed by baile funk DJ duo Mango & Ginger and bhangra, afrobeats, reggaeton DJ Bianca Maieli. DJ ERICALANDIA brings revelers over the top by spinning the best electronic dance music and counting down to midnight.
