The Music Center’s Cuba: Antes, Ahora / Cuba: Then, Now, is a three-day exploration of traditional and contemporary Cuban art for the people of Los Angeles. This multifaceted program will provide more than 48 Cuban artists the opportunity to engage with their U.S. neighbors and present their distinctive art forms—dance and music—to audiences at The Music Center and at Grand Park in Los Angeles.
Led by master Cuban percussionist Lazaro Galarraga and his Afro-Cuban ensemble, a collective of Cuban folk percussionists and dancers presenting the ancient traditions of Rumba, the park will host free Rumba performances in grand Cuban style! This event will feature the band Dayren Santamaria & Made in Cuba, an L.A.-based Afro-Cuban band made up of Cuban and Cuban-American musicians, and celebrated artists Pancho Amat, Telemary Diaz and Yissy García.
